A Mental Health Assessment (MHA) consists of a document review, clinical interview, and a battery of formal psychological test measures to provide thorough background, diagnosis, and treatment plan recommendations.
Assessments examine mental health, personality, and cognitive factors to explain a psychological profile. Each mental health assessment is tailored to meet the particular needs of an individual or referral source. We complete assessments for diagnostic and treatment purposes.
At a minimum, an MHA involves a clinical interview and a formal standardized measure of some kind. When more detail is required, the assessment may include several formal measures, a biophysical stress profile, and cognitive screening. The time frame involved ranges from 2 -7 hours and this will be discussed with you during an initial consultation with your therapist or psychologist. After the assessment is complete, a follow-up visit is provided to explain your results and make recommendations. No referral is required to begin the assessment process.
